Georgia Selby

My Name is Georgia Selby and I live in a little village outside of Northwich, Cheshire with my four dogs Gobby Bobby the collie cross, Tillie the terrorist the jack Russell, Bonkers Barry the working cocker. My obsession with dogs started from a very young age. I was lucky enough to have grown up on a farm and was surrounded by dogs especially working breeds.

My passion turned into my dream job thanks to my boy Bobby my eldest. Bobby is a rescue and came with number of issues and so started the journey and this is where Trails For Tails Dog training came from.

I am a qualified APDT instructor having gained the Parts 1 foundation and part 2 advanced qualifications from the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. I am a full member of the APDT no 01474. I’m also a volunteer Dog trainer for the charity Dog Aid, Dog aid Charity help train pet dogs into fully qualified assistance dogs to help their physically disabled owners complete everyday tasks. I also help when I can with training at Cheshire dogs home helping the dogs to cope better with the kennel environment as well as getting ready for adoption.

My biggest passion is Gundog training, my happiest place is when I’m working the shooting season with my boy Barry. Barry and I are lucky enough to be part of two beating teams on two local shoots which we attend all through the game season. As part of that I love to work with dogs and their hunting skills, those that hunt together stay together! I am also part of the committee of the Vale and West Gundog Club; we are huge advocates in promoting Positive reinforcement in gundog training. I think its hugely important for gundog breeds and gundog crosses to have an outlet for what they are bred to do. I believe that gundog training should be accessible to all pet dogs as well as working dogs, gundog training can benefit all breeds in so many ways.

I continuously keep up to date with latest Science based methods by attending regular workshops, seminars and courses. I adhere by strict code of conduct with the APDT to train in a kind, fair and effective way.

Sue Watkins

I live on the beautiful Somerset Levels with my family, husband Mark and my two grown children along with  my Labradors and a Working Cocker Spaniel. My earliest memory is of being a toddler and being surrounded by a litter of Labrador puppies, bred by my parents. My passion for dogs was ignited and has remained with me ever since.

I have had dogs of my own for many years, both rescued and bought as puppies of assorted breeds, and challenges. For five years I worked for a Greyhound rescue charity, as a regional rehoming officer. We dealt with all sight hounds with our area rehomed about 150 dogs a year - all with differing histories and needs.

Twelve years ago,  I decided to have a change of tact and stopped working in rescue and decided to run my own business. I still dealt with dogs and their owners, but I supplied them with food designed to meet their differing nutritional needs. I hold a Certificate in Companion Animal Nutrition (QCF Level 3) awarded by COAPE. I still trained and worked my own dogs, but felt it was time to follow a long-held dream to become a dog trainer.

I have now completed several Sarah Whitehead courses and was a Licensed Trainer with her Clever Dog Company Method for two years. I love training with working line gundogs particularly Labradors, but I am more than happy to work with any breed of dog! I love to watch dogs and their owners progressing in their relationship, developing a bond, building their confidence and learning using positive, science based methods.

I offer one to one home visits, and training in very small groups in a secure training paddock. I regularly update my knowledge and experience by attending seminars and workshops. I am fully insured and DBS cleared. All training adheres to the APDT code of practice.
